The compensation plan is a stair-step breakaway. My purpose is not to enter into much details on this type of compensation plan, but just to point out that with this model only a few top distributors will come out ahead. As shown on the Herbalife official website, in the Herbalife Compensation plan, only about 1% of active leaders make more than $80,000 a year, and 2% more than $18,000 per year.

Not so long ago I was still working a full time corporate job. Working from home is a life-changing experience and I love it. I could probably come up with 20 reasons to work from home, and I have summarized my 5 main reasons in this post.

1) Spend time with your kids.  This is the number one reason people give for working from home. I was with my 2 year old only one hour a day and now I take him to morning day care, have lunch with him, play with him, this is just priceless.

2) Create wealth for yourself.  Working for someone else can be very frustrating when you have the feeling that you are creating wealth for your boss and not for yourself. The point is your boss is not here to make you rich, but to ensure that you get your pay-check. Working for yourself is much more rewarding because you can create unlimited wealth for you and your family.

3) No Commute. The average working person wastes almost 10% of their week getting to and from work, and most of the time in stressful traffic jams. I was spending 1.5 hours on the road every day and now I just have to commute to my son’s day care (5 minutes walking) and back to my home office.

4) Choose your own hours.  Working a 9-5 job can be very frustrating when you have nothing more to do at 3pm or quite stressful when it’s 5 and you still have tons of work. You lose time or you have to work 200% to do it all before 5pm. It’s the dictatorship of the clock. Working from home, I can now have my own schedule, adapt it to my family needs, and I don’t have to ask permission to take half a day off when I need or want to.

5) No longer waste time or emotional resources coping with a boss or frustrated colleagues. I can now focus all my energy on working on my business in a productive way, and I think I must be 2 or 3 times more efficient and less tired at the end of the day.

When I visit other people’s websites and blogs, I often want to re-tweet their content and products if I think they can bring value to my followers. And I was looking for a simple way to put a link on my own blog posts so that my visitors can easily and quickly re-tweet the content they are interested in. This would be better than just using a plugin because you can personalize the tweet.

Well here is how you do that: you put a link in your blog post, just like this one. Click on it to see what it does: log in your Twitter account and the RT is already written, you just have to click on Update:

How to do the link: right click on the link above, select Copy shortcut, and paste in a notepad file, then customize it. The first part is your twitter ID and the first part of the tweet, then you put the permalink of your blog post – just below your post title when you edit the post.

When they want to start a home based business in the network marketing and direct sales industry, most people focus on the products and the compensation plan. Actually most MLM companies are built around the compensation plan. They forget that a business is about SYSTEMS and PEOPLE.

You can have the best product in the world, along with the best compensation plan, if you don’t have a system to market your product and a mentor who can teach you how to market efficiently, you will never make a dime. And that’s actually why 95% of network marketers make no more than $10 a week.

What I’m going to share with you here are a few key points you should look for when you are choosing your network marketing business. These are very important factors of success in this industry.

• First of all, you must find a business where you can have a mentor, a coach who is going to be there for you, someone you feel you can trust. This has to be someone who is willing to listen to your needs and actually cares about your success, someone who will answer your questions and help you be successful. This person must also have a financial interest in your success. Make sure he/she gets paid every time you do!
  

• Make sure the team you are working with has a powerful marketing system in place that anyone can duplicate. A strong system that anyone can plug into and get results with. If you have to figure out your own lead generation or if the company relies on recruiting family or friends, purchased leads or newspaper advertising, just run away. If you don’t have a reliable way of getting quality prospects in front of what you are offering you cannot be successful on a long term basis.
  

• Find a company where you don’t have to do any personal selling or explaining. Make sure there is a team of people in place to do this for you. You should have an entire team of people to support you.
  

• Make sure that the products being sold are legitimate stand alone products. These must be products that would sell independently from the business opportunity. Most network marketing and direct sales companies are built around the compensation plan and not a stand alone product. If what you are marketing is not a stand alone product, you will have a hard time building residual income and a stable business as most people will not be able to duplicate what you are doing and people will leave your team faster than they joined.
  

• Make sure that the company has a long term vision and is going to be financially stable as long as you are going to be marketing for it. Also make sure the company is not hiding offshore somewhere to keep out of reach of the attorney general. This is a key sign of a company’s true colors.

If you can find a legitimate company, with stand alone products, a strong marketing system, good sales support, and a personal mentor, you will dramatically increase your chances of success in the network marketing industry.
